Retinol is a form of vitamin A. It promotes cell renewal in the skin by increasing collagen and elastin production, which contribute to younger, healthier skin. Whilst AHAs promote superficial exfoliation, retinol promotes the renewal of skin cells. Retinol skincare products diminish visibility of fine lines and wrinkles, lead to a smoother overall appearance of facial contours and more evenly-completed skin tone. Many also report that their skin appears more supple and healthier looking.

But using pure Retinol in formulations is challenging. It is sensitive to light, oxygen and heat, resulting in significant loss of efficacy.
